Penryn College is the oldest Independent High School in Mpumalanga and is a proud member of ISASA (Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa). We will always strive to be a beacon of educational excellence and we are committed to ensuring that our scholars are prepared to not only cope but to excel in an ever changing world!

At Penryn College we live by the words of John Dewey:

“Education is not preparation for life, education is life itself”!

We believe our scholars are writing their own curriculum vitae’s from the day they start their journey at the College and we, therefore, believe in creating a range of opportunities for all our scholars. Our scholars should and will be ready for an ever changing world – a diverse world where you have to be able to interact with people from different cultures and religions; but qualities like good manners, adaptability, good work ethic and making the most of your God given talents, will always be part of Penryn life. We are proud of the fact that Penryn College was the first school in South Africa to have a scholar -transformation committee. The aim of our transformation workshops is to identify pressing issues and then it is the task of the committee to ensure we address these issues.

At Penryn College we don’t just pay lip service to our faith as well as our Honour Code – we live it and integrate the values into all realms of school life. We encourage scholars to reflect on their individual goals but at the same time look outside and add value to our community.

Our scholars are taught to speak their truth and have a voice – but they learn to temper it with appropriate register and appropriate timing. We are committed to providing a safe and disciplined environment.

Penryn College is proud to be associated with Round Square, an organisation which comprises of a network of like-minded schools all over the world. The philosophy behind Round square is “Education through Experience” which ties in with education is life itself. We are committed to live according to the Round Square Ideals and our scholars will always be encouraged to attend conferences both locally as well as internationally.

We are proud of our diverse scholar body. Every year we welcome scholars from all over the globe and our scholars experience the home – away – from home feel in our world – class boarding houses.
